The Global Assets & Collectors Forum attends to personal data with the same discretion it asks of its members. Gathered sparingly, used for the purpose for which it was given, and seen only by those who need to see it. This notice is issued under the Swiss revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revDSG, in force since 1 September 2023) and, where applicable to enquiries from the European Economic Area, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Controller
Global Assets & Collectors Forum, a Swiss association under Art. 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code, with its registered seat in Lucerne, Switzerland, is the controller within the meaning of Art. 5 lit. j revDSG and Art. 4(7) GDPR. You may reach the Secretariat at any hour at secretariat@gacf.ch.
What we collect
When you write to the Secretariat, complete a membership enquiry, or submit an application with an invitation code, we receive your name, your contact details, your professional affiliation, and whatever you wish to tell us about your intent. For applications, the further information set out in the GACF Membership Application Form. Server log data (IP address, user agent, timestamp) is processed transiently for security and to render the site. We do not operate advertising pixels or third-party analytics.
Purposes and legal basis
We process this data to answer you, to consider a possible membership, to administer a membership once extended, and to discharge legal obligations incumbent on the association. Under the revDSG, processing rests on the legitimate interests of the controller in maintaining a confidential channel to its constituency and on the necessity of the steps you have initiated. Where the GDPR applies, the corresponding legal bases are Art. 6(1)(b) (steps prior to entering into a relationship), Art. 6(1)(c) (legal obligation) and Art. 6(1)(f) (legitimate interests).
Retention
Enquiries we do not carry forward are deleted after twelve months. Application materials are kept for the duration of the application process and, where membership is extended, for the duration of the membership and any statutory retention period thereafter. Server logs are retained for no longer than is necessary to ensure the integrity of the site.
Recipients and transfers
Personal data is accessible only to members of the GACF Secretariat and, where strictly necessary, to the independent Membership Committee. Data is held within Switzerland and the European Economic Area. Where data is processed by a technical service provider outside those jurisdictions, transfers are governed by the safeguards required under Chapter 2 Section 2 revDSG and Chapter V GDPR, including, where appropriate, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
You have the right, under the revDSG and, where applicable, the GDPR, to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request rectification or erasure, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive your data in a structured, portable form. To exercise any of these rights, write to the Secretariat at the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Bern, or with the supervisory authority of your habitual residence within the European Union.
Cookies
This site uses only strictly necessary cookies required to render pages, remember language preferences, and submit forms. No advertising or profiling cookies are set. Please see the Cookie Policy for the operative detail.
Security
We employ technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we receive. Transmission of information over the public internet is, however, inherently exposed. We ask, as the Forum's character requires, that confidential matters be communicated with the discretion the channel itself can warrant.
